Grilling away

Today Matt made dinner. He grilled up a killer steak out on the charcoal grill. Leah was all bundled up and we spent a nice evening in the yard.

Who would've thought that was going to happen? Certainly not me and not Matt who nagged me to death when I went to Macy's to pick the outfit out. :P

I think most of the pictures I take of Leah are of her in the Kick n Play. She likes sitting on it and she definitely enjoys the vibrating function on it.

Leah and Sol's First Bus Trip

Today I dressed Leah and packed her diaper bag and ventured off into the world. We went to the mall. But since I don't drive and do not have a car we had to try out the Long Island bus service. Matt forgot to leave her Snap n Go so I had the whole travel system to handle. Its heavy but not so cumbersome that I can't get on and off the bus with it.

All in all it was a good trip. I felt accomplished when we finally got to the mall. So silly, aren't I?

Jodi's Baby Shower

Today Leah and me accompanied Ruth to Jodi's Baby Shower. Jodi is one of Matt's cousins from his father's side. She is one of Lois' daughters, the other is Jamie. It was held at Gaby and Michael's new house (which I love by the way.)

I had a really good time and I loved seeing Leah with more of her family. It was a bit surreal sitting at the baby shower with Leah. Ruth had thrown me mine not too long ago and here we were celebrating another lil one. Jodi looked great. She is due October 25th and is having a baby boy that is has been named Aidan. I don't know if I spelled that right.

I took lots of pictures of the baby shower and am working on a cute lil baby book for Jodi. This will be Jodi's second son, her first Jonathan is absolutely adorable, so I can only imagine how Aidan is going to turn out.

I had a great time and it was another opportunity for me to step back and see how grateful I should be that I met Matt. I couldn't have asked for a better dad for Leah. Nope, not at all.

The men in Matt's family have an affinity for laying on the floor. Everyone from George to Marc to Gary always seem to end up on it. Its rather comfortable. Heh.

Shopping

Haven't done too much the last few days. Just mostly hanging out at home and occassionally stopping at Ruth and George's. Today we went to Kohl's to pick up some stuff for Leah. I ended getting some frames and some scrapbooking stuff. Its a good thing Matt is around or else I'd want to get the whole baby clothes section. I was looking at the newborn stuff and I couldn't believe how small it was in comparison to Leah. She's already grown so much. Its scary.

Late Night Play

Leah goes to sleep around 11 o'clock or so and then wakes up around 2 am. She has been doing this consistently since we brought her home. I think it just might be my favorite time with her. She has a pretty active period at the time. I nurse her and she sits content in my lap while I listen to music and sing along to it. Then when I notice she is finally relaxed I lay her down to sleep. But today I noticed that she is finally big enough for her swing, so in she went. She seems to like it. She likes the high, fast swing setting. And it did a pretty good job of lulling her to sleep.



I was worried it might be overstimulating for her, my mom said it was for me as a baby. But no worries, she was fast asleep in no time.

National Grandparents Day

Today is National Grandparents Day. Too bad Matt's parents are away on vacation. They are just awesome. So lucky to have them in our lives.

And I can't believe at how well-behaved my parents are being. I was soooo worried that they would be fighting all the time but it seems that having two grandchildren to share has made their getting along a little easier.

Lindsay is leaving for Australia today, it is also her birthday. Matt drove her to the airport so she got to spend some more time with Leah before leaving. I did laundry while he was gone. And it was A LOT of laundry. Geez, so many chores to do. And now there are like ten million more cause of Leah. Its all worth it. Right?!

Surprise Visitors

I was actually getting some sleep while Matt watched Leah this morning. After our late night photo session Leah finally decided to go to sleep. Anyway so Matt walks into the room and wakes me up. Apparently my dad was outside, as in outside the apartment! Heh. He came out to visit us and I never called him back. Silly me.

So we hung out in the apartment for a bit and then went to go eat at Olive Garden in Massapequa. Matt and my brother Gilberto teased me mercifully (something I greatly detest) but I am glad they get along. (Even if it is at my expense) But after having three younger siblings I am pretty used to it.

I never used to see my family much when I lived upstate or in the city so its nice to see how involved they are trying to be now. I love them so much and I want Leah to really love them too.

I got bored so I dressed up Leah in this cute lil blue pajama set she has. Yes its a boy outfit but I don't care. :P She looks adorable -_-

I think she was not too content with my taking pictures of her at almost 3 in the morning. And she let me know it.

Icky Doctor

Today was Leah's first official well baby visit. It was early enough for Matt to come to it. Her pediatrician Dr. Gunsberger got to the office a little late but that was okay cause he saw us right away. I don't believe I've ever been to the pediatrician and it take more than 15 minutes *except for the waiting time*. Her jaundice has cleared up and he said she is showing great development. Matt was holding her when she got her shots, she cried so very hard. I thought I was going to die. But she was fine in about two minutes or so.

She is now 10 1/2 lbs and 20 1/2 inches long. :D

She was a lil bit out of it when we came home but by night time she was fine.



She is already beginning to show signs of independent smiling!

Birthday #2

Today we went to Don Juan's to celebrate Lindsay's birthday. Don Juan's is a mexican food restaurant that happens to be one of Matt's favorites. Lindsay's birthday is actually on the 12th but that is the day she is leaving for Australia so we celebrated early.

Didn't get any pictures of Leah with her yet! Must get on that.

Passing the time

We tend to spend a decent amount of our time at Broadway Mall. Not cause we shop much but because its close and my job is there. We put Leah in her carseat and then into the base in the car she goes. Then we go wherever we are going, Leah usually falls asleep. She is such a great baby. She only really cries when she is hungry.

Anyway so then we get out of the car and Matt gets the Snap n Go out of the trunk and puts the carseat onto it, secures it and off we go. And then does this in reverse when its time to get back into the car. At first it took him a while to get the hang of it but he is an expert now. I don't do much other than carry the diaper bag until he has the stroller together.

Labor Day

Best thing about Labor Day is that Matt doesn't usually work. So today he got to hang out with Leah and me.

Here he is a lil after feeding her a bit before noon. She LOVES laying on his chest, another thing we have in common :D

Just Chillin'

I spend so much time home alone with Leah that I think we both get kind of stir crazy. So today we took a short trip outside and I took some pics of her cute lil outfit. I think she looks good in yellow, then again I don't believe I will ever think she looks bad in anything!

One Month Wrap-Up

Leah is beginning to grab at things with purpose behind the movements. She has also gotten really good at lifting her head and turning it around and about so she can look around. I would say she is progressing well. She is very attentive and quite curious about everything around her. She turns to people talking to see where the voices are coming from. She rarely cries and is beginning to sleep better. Her eating patterns are pretty stable. I couldn't be happier with her.

Best of all is that she recognizes Matt and me and you can tell she does. Just awesome.

Say Cheese!

Today we went to Sears Portrait Studios to have Leah's 1 month old pictures professionally taken. I know I made an appointment at the one located at Sunrise Mall but when we got there they said we weren't in their system. They took us anyway. Leah was hungry so I had to feed her some before and during the shoot. That girl is not easy to get a picture of. The guy kept trying to get her to look at him but she just wasn't having it. She was enjoying looking at the ceiling lights way too much. The photographer was great. He had a ton of patience and he did get some beautiful pictures of her.

The dress she is wearing is one that Matt got for her. It is actually the first thing either of us every bought her. I think its a great pick.

After about the 5th pose Leah had enough. He got one more and was short one of the seven they usually take. Doesn't matter one would have been perfect, because...well she's perfect!











We will definitely be going back for her future pictures. I want to get a family portrait done for the holidays. I think some nice picture with Leah and Matt would look awesome. Matt is very photogenic and I know he would be absolutely beaming in any picture with Leah.

Oh and for all the pics with got with the special coloring and extras, we still spent a lot less than I thought it was going to be. Good stuff.

Grandpa George's Birthday

August till the end of October are pretty busy birthday months in our family's. Matt's dad starts them off today.

We went out to dinner at Black Forest Brew Haus in Farmingdale, NY. Matt got this funky Captain Crunch Chicken thing. He didn't end up liking it. Both he and his sister got the beer sampler. The food was quite good and there was a lot of it so I took much of my meal home.

Leah was pretty good as usual. Had to feed her and what not but Ruth was nice enough to hold her while I ate :D

All in all a good time.

Lindsay

Today Leah met Lindsay, Matt's sister for the first time. You can tell right away that Lindsay is going to love every bit of being an aunt. Its nice that she is back in New York again so that she can get to spend time with Leah. :D
