O Canada - Day Six - Centre Island

After visiting the Ontario Science Centre we headed back to downtown Toronto. Our plan was to spend the rest of the day visiting Centre Island. I found this part of our trip to be a nice bargain. An $8 parking fee (for the day and evening) plus a $7 per adult ferry ride bought a really nice leg of the trip.

Due to it being the last weekend of the summer (Labour Day weekend) everyone that didn't head up north for the holiday seemed to be making their way out to the Toronto Islands. There was quite a crowd of people waiting to get on the ferry. 30 minutes of waiting and Leah pointed out how nice everyone was. No arguing, no pushing or shoving. Very different from what we are used to back home.

Finally we made our way onto the ferry and short, nice ride brought us to Centre Island. Leah went with Matt & Louis up on upper deck while I stayed with Gabriel down below.

We were going to give Centreville a try but the lines were very long so we decided to skip it and head for the splashpads and wading pools instead.

Fountain on the way to the beach and play areas.

Leah changed and ready for some water fun.

You looking at me?

While Gabriel wanted nothing to do with the wading pools,
Leah and Louis had a blast splashing around in them.

The water was cold but they played for a long time. Gabriel had a good time catching up with Leah after her water play.

Afterward we headed over to The Franklin Children's Garden.

We had some dinner (Pizza Pizza--it is actually called that)
and then headed over to the beach for a beautiful sunset.

And that was it. Our trip to Toronto wrapped up with a ferry ride back to the city
and a drive to the hotel.
